SLOKA 2010 World Championship in Kayak and Canoe Slalom
08 Sep 2010 - 12 Sep 2010
Kajak center Tacen / Tacen Kayak Centre, Marinovševa 8a, Tacen
The Ljubljana Kayak Course, located in the far northern suburb of Tacen, will host the world's best kayakers and canoeists, including the Slovenians Peter Kauzer and the pair Luka Božič and Sašo Taljat.
The Ljubljana Kayak Course is well known around the world. Eight years after the foundation of the Ljubljana Kayak Club in 1931, the white waters of the river Sava hosted the Kayak Championship of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. 1948 saw the setting up of a permanent kayak course in Tacen and in 1952 kayakers were already able to race down the famous Sava river sluice gate, which won the Ljubljana Kayak Course international recognition and is still considered to be a great challenge even for the world's best white water paddlers.
