World Book Summit 2011: Books as Promoters of Human Development

The World Book Summit 2011 will try to answer the question of how books and reading, in view of the wide choice of media available today, provide the foundation for the development of the individual and the society. Summit participants will adopt the Ljubljana Resolution on Books, which will outline the directions in which public administrations could move in order to improve their efficiency in supporting books and reading.

Participating researchers and experts, involved in all the aspects of the book supply chain, from book-related cultural policies and publishing to authors' rights and literary criticism, will discuss two main themes: The Globalization of Books and Reading in a Digital Era and Book Publishing Markets and Translation from Small to Major World Languages and Vice Versa.
