Slovenian designers
Slovenian design has become internationally recognized and respected thanks to a large number of talented designers. Its rise began after the Second World War with the famous Ljubljana School of Printmaking. Today it continues to thrive in a range of different areas, finding expression through a range of different means.
Many of the best known figures in contemporary Slovenian design live and work in Ljubljana. What they have in common are the originality of their vastly differing approaches and the superiority of their remarkably diverse works. Every two years, the qualities of Slovenian design are showcased at the Ljubljana Biennial of Industrial Design (BIO), one of the longest running international events of the kind, where Slovenian designers competing against top-class designers from abroad tend to receive numerous awards.
The designers presented on this website are internationally respected for their unique approaches to their work. With their designs ranging from those for decorative and functional objects to those for architecture and couture, they have made a lasting mark on a variety of different areas of life.
