Ljubljana Marshes – Nature and History
This excursion lets you explore the sights of the Ljubljana Moors nature park and the collections of the famous Technical Museum of Slovenia, housed in Bistra Castle near the small town of Vrhnika.
The excursion begins with a visit to the famous Church of St. Michael in the village of Črna vas, one of the greatest masterpieces of the architect Jože Plečnik, and continues with a ride across the Ljubljana Moors to Lake Podpeč and the village of Borovnica, well known for the remains of a remarkable railway viaduct. The excursion ends with a visit to the picturesque Bistra Castle, the home of the Technical Museum of Slovenia, which boasts extensive museum collections and gives interesting technical heritage presentations.

If requested, the excursion can be amended to include a living history show offering an insight into the life and culture of the prehistoric lake dwellers of the Ljubljana Moors (5000-1000 BC), whose archaeological remains are included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
