The controversial Bodies Revealed exhibition, which has travelled to many cities around the world and is now showing in Ljubljana, presents plastinated human corpses and offers a unique insight into the anatomy and physiology of the human body.
Since 2004, this exhibition, fascinating for some and disapproved of by others, has been seen by more than 30 million people around the world. It has been put together by the American Atlanta-based company Premier Exhibitions, which has pointed out that this kind of insight into the secrets of the human body has tremendous educational value and is invaluable in raising the awareness of healthy living.
Exhibits include human bodies and more than 180 individual human organs and body parts preserved using the technique of plastination, in which the water in the tissues of recently deceased people is replaced with liquid plastic, thus allowing a full preservation of corpses which goes all the way to the molecular level.
