The festive December in Ljubljana this year begins before the first Sunday of Advent, starting already on Friday, 27 November. This is when the Christmas lights will switch on and the Festive Fair will open, adding a tinge of fairy-tale spirit to the city until 11 January 2016.

The annual Dragon Carnival gives you an opportunity to get to know the wealth of Slovenia's Shrovetide traditions. Make sure not to miss the carnival parade through the streets of the historical city centre of Ljubljana on Shrove Saturday, which falls on 6 February this year.

An exhibition about water is on view at the City Museum of Ljubljana. It represents a contribution by Ljubljana, a city boasting a high level of preservation of its natural water resources and the European Green Capital 2016, to an ongoing debate about one of the most important topics of our time.
