Slovenia, and its Alpine region in particular, boasts a number of excellent ski resorts. Most of the resorts are located quite close to Ljubljana, so skiing day trips from the capital are a great option for those looking for some fun in the snow.

After a decade of being held in Helsinki, the world renowned Flow Festival will for the first time travel to another host destination this year. From 26 to 28 June it will be held in Ljubljana, whose abandoned Tobačna tovarna tobacco factory complex will play host to a star line-up of artists including Pet Shop Boys, Róisín Murphy, Metronomy, Run the Jewels, Caribou, José González, Derrick May, and many others.

Each year in the summer, Ljubljana comes alive with numerous festivals, most of them taking place in the open air. The city centre festival season traditionally starts with the June in Ljubljana festival and ends with Nights in Ljubljana Old Town. A great new addition to this summer's range of festivals is Flow Festival Ljubljana, set to bring a stellar line-up of music artists to the abandoned Tobačna tovarna factory complex from 26 to 28 June.
