In 2019 the Ljubljana Convention Bureau, which operates as part of Ljubljana Tourism, founded the Ljubljana Ambassador Club.

The club’s purpose is to enhance the promotion of Ljubljana in the international meetings field and support Slovenian scientists, experts, doctors, professors, researchers, businesspeople, athletes and other individuals who are members of international associations in their own field and are endeavouring to bring international events to Ljubljana.

Its members are those experts who have done most to bring major international events to Ljubljana in the past.

The experience of the club’s members is a priceless source of inspiration, and also of entirely practical advice on how to obtain and successfully organise a major event at the international level. Stories about successfully realised events contribute to the understanding of the forms of support available to meetings organisers and raise awareness of the importance of conventions for the city and for Slovenia’s scientific and academic community.

The Ljubljana Ambassador Club is affiliated to the Slovenian Ambassador Programme, which is run by the Slovenian Convention Bureau with the support of the Slovenian Tourist Board in close cooperation with Ljubljana Convention Burau.

Congress ambassadors offer a model which we hope will encourage young people to participate actively in international associations.
