At the Global Green Destinations Day conference Ljubljana was again ranked among the Global Top 100 Sustainable Destinations. The first time our city was included in this list was in 2014.

In Slovenia, the first room opened in summer 2014 and the end of that year there was 6 rooms. Today, there are almost thirty different forms of games and some of them have also received the “Certificate of Excellence 2016” by the TripAdvisor.

UNESCO 2nd Open Education Global Conference to take place in Ljubljana in 2017
UNESCO (represented by its Director General, Irina Bokova) supported the initiative and proposed Slovenia to host the 2nd Open Education Global Conference. In September 2014 Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, and Director of the Jožef Stefan Institute (IJS), Prof. Jadran Lenarčič, PhD, signed an agreement on the establishment of UNESCO Chair on Open Technologies for Open Educational Resources and Open Learning, based at the IJS Ljubljana.

On 7 August 2019, the European Commission announced the finalists of the 2020 European Capital of Smart Tourism competition, which include Ljubljana. After a presentation in Helsinki, on 8 October 2019 the European Jury will select two winning cities and award four others in the accessibility, sustainability, digitalisation, and cultural heritage and creativity categories
