Within the special brunch at WTM London, Ljubljana Tourism presented its efforts for the sustainable development and promotion of destination's gastronomy, as well as guided experiences with a focus on its latest Let’s meet at the market. The meeting, which was organised on Slovenian stand by Slovenia Tourism Board in order to present the Slovenian culinary specialities that contribute to the 5-star experiences, was attended by representatives of renowned British media, such as National Geographic Traveller, Culture Trip, Foodism, Escapism, Olive Magazine and Greta's Travels.

UNESCO 2nd Open Education Global Conference to take place in Ljubljana in 2017
Jadran Lenarčič, PhD, signed an agreement on the establishment of UNESCO Chair on Open Technologies for Open Educational Resources and Open Learning, based at the IJS Ljubljana. This is the leading Slovenian scientific research institute, covering a broad spectrum of basic and applied research, whose staff of more than 960 specializes in natural sciences, life sciences and engineering.

New developments to arrive at the Ljubljana Exhibition & Convention Centre in autumn 2008
Urška and the Water Man are otherwise two nearly legendary personages from a poem by the major Slovenian bard, France Prešeren. Some of the advantages to be offered by the new facilities, in a summary: the “all under one roof” concept; halls connected to the ground floor by escalators, city centre location, just a few minutes from the bus and railway station, 100 parking spaces within the GR grounds and over 1,500 parking spaces in the surrounding area, modern look and state-of-the-art multimedia equipment, 4 halls of different sizes: from 108 to 212 m² or a fully open space, the possibility of combining the halls into a maximum capacity of 500 seats theatre style, 350 seats classroom style or 138 seats U-shaped; a new function space for catering, receptions and exhibitions able to welcome up to 350 participants for a standing reception or 250 participants in the banquet set up; the possibility of using a special entrance from the LECC courtyard, which is especially attractive for evening events.

GR Expands both Space and Opportunities
The new premises are directly connected to the GR and have been named, like the other halls, after the poems of the greatest Slovenian poet, Dr. France Prešeren. The Apel complex, spreading across four levels and a total of 12,892 square metres, is divided into four sections: Sonet Hall, ground floor (1,636 sqm) Gazela Hall, 1st floor (2,211 sqm) Oda Hall, 1st basement (3,692 sqm) Meduza Hall, 2nd basement (5,353 sqm) This almost doubles GR's previous indoor capacities, which now comprise over 26,000 square metres of net space.
