Walnut Potica – Orehova potica

Prepare the work surface by laying a larger dishcloth over it, then sprinkle some strong bread flour evenly across it. Place the dough on the dishcloth and roll it out to form a square that is 1 finger-width thick (1 cm/0.4 inches). Once rolled, the dough should measure 55x55 cm (21x21 inches) in size, which is a perfect fit for a 27 cm (10 inches) potičnik.

Slovene Ethnographic Museum

Permanent exhibition: Plečnik's Lectarija The exhibition displays the fixtures and fittings of Lectarija, the domestic arts and craft shop that was set up at 5 Congress Square in Ljubljana in 1940. The exhibited items include wooden display cabinets, a table and bench, a display window with a brass spiral which served as a support on which to arrange articles for sale, a massive round table from artificial stone, and a wooden chandelier with candles in a circle.

We hear all about Slovenia’s greatest romantic poet, France Preseren, whose statue stands in the beautiful square named after him, opposite the pink Church of the Annunciation, which was taken over by the Franciscans in 1784. Beneath Preseren, who was an alcoholic and deeply unhappy but renowned as a genius, is a bronze of a naked woman, thought to be his muse.
