Šmarna gora: route via Spodnja Kuhinja (669 m)
We have chosen the route via Spodnja Kuhinja (“Pot čez Spodnjo Kuhinjo”) starting in Tacen, where there is a large car park (charges apply) and which can also be reached by bus. It is also known as the “Path over the Roots” – for reasons that will soon become apparent! This is the most popular route up Šmarna Gora, on which you will meet other hikers from early morning until late in the evening.

Roaming the flowering meadows in the Ljubljana Marshes
The trail is a mix of a gravel road (also suitable for cyclists) and tracks over grass which can turn pretty muddy after rain, so I strongly suggest you wear sneakers. Arriving there To arrive at Bevke, you need to find bus route 54 (Ljubljana - Blatna Brezovica), which leaves from the Ljubljana main bus station. More information on buses. We recommend the trail from Polhov Gradec, which can also be reached by bus, through the hamlet of Ravnek. The route is a varied one that includes a macadam road, cart tracks, forest paths, and little paths climbing up through rocks and along an exposed ridge.
