Following the great earthquake of 1895, it was increasingly used as emergency housing for the most vulnerable classes of the city’s inhabitants. FROM HORJUL TO KORENO

You ascend through forests, meadows, and pastures to the village of Prosec where you leave the road to Polhov Gradec and ride towards the houses and outbuildings to the end of the asphalt. From here, the route proceeds on a gravel road, mostly in the shelter of the forest, but in places the world opens up and you look out across grassy hayfields and up Alpine slopes again.

Volunteers of the IMEX Challenge Slovenia 2012 project built a beehive for children with special needs

Local partners who last year managed to convince the organizers of IMEX Challenge to support this innovative and inspiring project, are CUDV Centre Draga, Beekeepers Association of Slovenia, Slovenian Convention Bureau, agencies GO.MICE and Compass, Grand Hotel Union, Jezeršek Culinary House and Ljubljana Tourism / Convention Bureau. The project, which was endorsed by the President and Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, the Mayor of Ljubljana and the British Ambassador to Slovenia, is a best practice example of successful integration among various walks of life and of corporate social responsibility with a common goal to improve on a small but meaningful part of our everyday life.

Fish Sculpture in Tivoli Park

It was created by the sculptor and architect Vladimira Bratuž Furlan, one of Plečnik’s favourite students. The reserved and distant professor even posed for her so that she could finish a statue of him, which she began working on in secret, under the desk, during his lectures.
