Together for a Clean Ljubljanica 18 Apr 2025 On Saturday, April 19, the traditional spring environmental campaign For a More Beautiful Ljubljana will conclude with the cleaning of the Ljubljanica River. Between 10:00 and 14:00, the Shoemaker’s Bridge (Čevljarski most) will transform into a cozy open-air living room, where passers-by can relax, enjoy live piano performances, or take part in creating a large collaborative drawing inspired by Ljubljana and the Ljubljanica.

Šmarna gora: route via Spodnja Kuhinja (669 m)
It is also known as the “Path over the Roots” – for reasons that will soon become apparent! This is the most popular route up Šmarna Gora, on which you will meet other hikers from early morning until late in the evening. The route is not exposed, but it is quite steep, with frequent tree roots on the path and some rocky sections.

Roaming the flowering meadows in the Ljubljana Marshes
Among the latter, my favourite flower is the endangered leper lily, known for announcing the arrival of the spring, and, most importantly, the end of the winter in the marshes. The Ljubljana Marshes measure 163 square kilometres in size or about one percent of the country and are home to the endangered Fritillaria Meleagris.
