Together for a Clean Ljubljanica

This creative workshop, developed by the company Sitar 1920, is designed especially to engage the youngest visitors in exploring their city and paying attention to its details, while also inviting people of all ages - locals, domestic, and international visitors - to take part. Adding to the festive atmosphere will be elegantly dressed performers in tailcoats and bourgeois attire strolling along the riverbanks. Among them will be the mythical Povodni mož (Water Man), who will be looking for his beloved Urška and trying to lure her into the Ljubljanica.

The 200th anniversary of the Congress of Ljubljana

Ljubljana in the spotlight The city of Ljubljana left nothing to coincidence before the arrival of the emperors, the housing for the numerous visitors had to be prepared, the old Capuchin monastery was razed and in its place an open space was created, today known as the Congress Square, where the main processions and festivities then took place. To ensure that there would be enough entertainment for the guests throughout the duration of the congress, many social activities were organized, including military parades, the music of the Philharmonic Society, dances, masquerades, fireworks, theatre and opera performances by national and international groups, sailings across the Ljubljanica River and hunting expeditions.

Gourmet Ljubljana is set to come out once a year, in the Slovenian and English languages, as a grand finale of the November Gourmet Ljubljana festival. The very first issue is already available at the Ljubljana Tourist Information Centre (TIC), and will soon be sold at select Petrol service stations.

Ljubljana Puppet Theatre

The Ljubljana Puppet Theatre has staged a large number of popular and internationally acclaimed productions, the best known being Zvezdica Zaspanka (Little Sleepy Star), Žogica Marogica (Spotty the Ball), Ostržek (Pinocchio) and Kozlovska sodba v Višnji Gori (Goat's Court Case in Višnja Gora). The Theatre organizes two biennial puppet festivals for children and adults, Zlata paličica (Golden Stick) and Lutke (Puppets), which bring together puppet troupes from around the world.
