The second masterclass teachers’ concert sees the return to Ljubljana of another group of musicians and teachers from some of the most important music education institutions in Europe. Oboist Emanuel Abbühl is an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Music in London and a professor at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts and the Hochschule für Musik Basel. Trumpeter Reinhold Friedrich and pianist Eriko Takezawa are both employed at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe, while Kimiko Imani teaches at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin.

Their programme on this occasion largely focuses on early music while also including Classical and Romantic works. They will perform the aria Let the Bright Seraphim from the opera Samson by George Frideric Handel, Johann Sebastian Bach’s arrangement for trumpet and keyboard of a violin concerto in D major by Antonio Vivaldi, and Robert Schumann’s Fantasiestücke for bassoon and piano.

After the interval, the concert will continue with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Sonata for Piano Four-Hands in D major and conclude with György Kurtág’s arrangement for piano four-hands of Bach’s O Lamm Gottes, unschuldig and an oboe, trumpet, and piano rendition of Bach’s Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen.
