This year, the tropical butterflies are returning once again to enchant us with their vibrant colours and fascinating life cycle of complete metamorphosis.

In the glasshouse near the manor, you can observe hungry caterpillars of various colours and sizes. As they grow, the caterpillars shed their skin several times in a process called moulting. Before the final moult, they encase themselves in a protective layer—a cocoon—and pupate. At the far end of the glasshouse, chrysalises are placed from which beautiful young butterflies emerge. They feed on grapefruit juice and feast on fragrant flowers. At first, their wings are still wet and soft, so they need time to dry and their bodies to harden before they can fly and joyfully flutter around you.
