Guiyang Symphony Orchestra

Since its founding in 2009, the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra has broken new ground in China as the country's first and only privately funded symphony orchestra. It performs regularly in major Chinese cities, as well as in Korea and Singapore, and is increasingly active on the international stage.

The orchestra’s music director is conductor and professor Zhang Guoyong, a graduate of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music—where he is now a faculty member—and later a student of the renowned Gennady Rozhdestvensky in Moscow.

The line-up of performers will be joined by violinist Feng Ning, widely acclaimed for his expressive lyricism, which he has demonstrated in numerous recordings released by the Dutch label Channel Classics.
