At the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, researchers in the humanities and social sciences—particularly in art history, literary history, history, linguistics, archaeology, and ethnology—explore various forms of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Through this, they help preserve historical memory and the identity of time and place, while also developing methods for documenting, protecting, and interpreting heritage.
Their work is carried out in collaboration with other faculties and academies at the University of Ljubljana, as well as with Slovenian and international universities, museums, galleries, research institutes, and heritage organisations.
Alongside legal frameworks and international conventions, heritage preservation relies on public awareness, education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the involvement of local communities and other stakeholders. Scientific research and thoughtful interpretation are vital to keeping heritage alive.
This exhibition presents the work of these researchers. For them, heritage is a lasting source of inspiration. It is a sleeping beauty—awaiting our touch. In return, as the poet writes, it offers a sip from the cup of immortality.
