Jean Sibelius’s haunting Violin Concerto in D minor stands as one of the great masterpieces of the violin repertoire, demanding both dazzling technique and deep emotional sensitivity. Performing this evocative work—often called the “voice of the Nordic soul”—on the legendary 1727 “ex-Kreutzer” Stradivarius will be Grammy Award-winning violinist Maxim Vengerov. A protégé of Mstislav Rostropovich, Vengerov has captivated audiences since childhood and is equally acclaimed as a conductor and educator.

Joining him is Georgian conductor Kakhi Solomnishvili, principal conductor of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. Together they will also present Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5, a stirring tribute to human strength, freedom, and spirit, which the composer described as music that “filled my soul and demanded expression.”
