Rade Šerbedžija, one of the greatest acting icons in our region, as well as a director, poet, musician, and versatile artist, returns to the stage of the Summer Ljubljana Festival with his band Zapadni kolodvor after his performance last year. His concerts are a true experience, filled with unique humour, poetic and prose interludes, and anecdotes from the artist's life, which, despite his successful career, were pushed to the margins of society by political upheavals in the 1990s.
As a musician, he began to make a name for himself in the 1970s when he released his first album. He has written four poetry collections with a wide range of themes – from love and social topics to philosophical and protest, happy and sad, as he himself says. His songs, often set to his own lyrics, can be described as distinct chansons, many of which have become evergreen hits.
His music is marked by influences from various genres – from rock to ethno – to which many renowned musical collaborators have contributed, such as Husein Hasanefendić, Damir Urban, Miroslav Tadić, Gabi Novak, Matija Dedić, Saša Lošić, Vlado Kreslin, and Jure Ivanušić, who frequently join him on stage.
