Ensemble Dissonance has become an indispensable part of the Ljubljana Festival, both its summer and winter editions. The ensemble is made up of renowned musicians and professors from Ljubljana, who also perform in various other ensembles. In addition to running its own chamber music series, the group regularly performs throughout Slovenia and abroad, and is also active in the field of music publishing.

Among its most recent achievements is a 2025 Grammy nomination for the album Entourer, recorded in collaboration with the stylistically versatile guitarist Mak Grgić. This marks Grgić’s third nomination for the prestigious award. He performs internationally and, following studies in Zagreb and Vienna, completed his education at the University of South Carolina, where he now also teaches.

The outstanding musicians have prepared a programme that showcases their remarkable musical versatility. The first part of the concert will be dedicated to the music of Joaquín Rodrigo, a key figure in the classical guitar repertoire. His early work Two Andalusian Miniatures will be followed by the iconic Concierto de Aranjuez, imbued with folk-inspired melodies and nostalgia, through which the composer sought to portray the elegance and structural grandeur of the Spanish palace of Aranjuez.

After the interval, the programme continues with the Macedonian folk tune Kasapsko oro, arranged by Klemen Hvala, cellist and founder of the ensemble. The concert will conclude with one of the pieces from Entourer – Balkan Suite, composed by Bosnian guitarist and composer Miroslav Tadić, and arranged by Leon Firšt, one of the most prominent Slovenian composers of the younger generation.
