Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and librettist Lorenzo da Ponte formed a remarkable artistic partnership that left a lasting mark on the history of musical theatre. Their operatic trilogy – which includes Don Giovanni – broke away from the conventions of Italian opera of the time, blending comedy and the supernatural with profound existential themes such as freedom and morality.

This time, Don Giovanni will be presented in concert form by the Pehlivanian Opera Academy, a platform that brings together aspiring conductors and singers from around the world. Following last year’s successful concert performance of Puccini’s La bohème, maestro George Pehlivanian will once again hand over the conductor’s baton to talented young professionals, while the vocal roles will be performed by promising singers who refine their operatic performance and production skills through the academy.

Pehlivanian, the academy’s founder, studied under great post-war maestros such as Pierre Boulez, Lorin Maazel and Ferdinand Leitner after moving from his native Beirut to Los Angeles, and today he is considered one of the leading conductors of his generation.
