The tours, each focusing on the theme behind the European Green Capital 2016 programme of events for the current month, will take visitors to Tivoli Park or the Ljubljana Botanic Garden, two of the city's major green attractions. On each tour, a Ljubljana Tourism guide will introduce visitors to the sustainability projects that earned Ljubljana the prestigious European Green Capital 2016 title while taking them around the city's green nooks and crannies.
Did you know that Ljubljana is the first of the European capitals on the way to becoming zero waste cities to have already exceeded the European Union's recycling targets for 2020 by ten per cent? Did you know that in various locations across the city's urban core you can find beehives and apiaries, and that Ljubljana's drinking water does not undergo any technological treatment?
Join us on any of the monthly tour dates for 2016 listed below and explore one of the different aspects of Ljubljana's sustainable development.
