Via Slovenica – Exploring Roman Heritage

Get to know the Roman heritage on the territory of the present-day Slovenia. Take a tour along the course of a former Roman road from Emona (Ljubljana) to the cities of Celeia (Celje) and Poetovia (Ptuj).

On your way to Celje, you will make a stopover at a well-preserved Roman necropolis. After learning about the history of Celeia, you will continue towards Ptuj, where you will visit the remains of the important Roman city of Poetovia, including its Mithraeum, which is a world famous sight.

Following a tasting session of the local wine, which was first made by the Romans, the tour will take you back to Ljubljana, where you can treat yourself to a truly Roman experience in the form of a torchlit tour of the remains of Emona in the company of a Roman legionary, available at a surcharge.
