Walking tour of Baroque Ljubljana
The tour of Baroque Ljubljana offers a detailed insight into most of Ljubljana's Baroque sights located in the city centre.
Apart from creations by Jože Plečnik, it is Baroque masterpieces that decisively contribute to the architectural appearance of Ljubljana. Numerous old city centre buildings are adorned with Baroque façades, staircases and inner courtyards. Also the majority of Ljubljana's famous churches were built or, after the earthquake of 1511, rebuilt in Baroque style.
A jewel in the crown of Baroque Ljubljana are the masterpieces by the Venetian-born sculptor Francesco Robba, whose works include the famous Fountain of Three Carniolan Rivers (Vodnjak treh kranjskih rek), one of Ljubljana's most typical Baroque monuments, situated in front of the Town Hall (Mestna hiša).
