Žale Cemetery tour for groups

Add to MyVisit Add to MyVisit

Get to know Ljubljana's main cemetery, which, thanks to the architect Jože Plečnik, who put his own distinctive stamp on it, is nothing short of an open-air museum where you can come to feel the history and culture of the local people.

Your guide will be waiting for you in front of the cemetery's columned entrance gateway, designed by Plečnik as a monumental double-storey propylaea leading to the Garden of All Saints, as the cemetery's chapel of rest complex was named by the architect. Apart from Plečnik's chapels of rest, your tour will show you the graves of famous Slovenians, works by renowned Slovenian sculptors, and several other interesting things in the old part of the cemetery before taking you to its new part, monumentally designed as 'a city of the dead' by the architect Marko Mušič in 1982.

The tour price includes a professional guide.
