Early Christian Centre
A later centre of Christian life in Emona developed along the city’s western wall, parts of which are still preserved on Erjavčeva Street, next to Cankarjev dom. Like most Emonan houses, the original building was privately owned, but it was later transformed into an early Christian complex. The remains of its foundations and earliest floors date back to the founding of the city in the early 1st century AD.

Triple Bridge
Between 1929 and 1932, the side bridges, intended for pedestrians, were added to the original stone bridge to a design by the architect Jože Plečnik, who thus created a unique architectural gem of Ljubljana. © Dunja Wedam Plečnik removed the metal railings from the old stone bridge and furnished all the three bridges with massive stone balustrades and lamps.

Trnovski pristan embankment
In the past it was used for unloading the boats carrying stone from the Podpeč Quarry, intended for the construction of buildings in Ljubljana. Later, when the architect Jože Plečnik was commissioned to landscape the banks of the Ljubljanica river, the area was turned into a promenade, remarkable for its stone steps lined by a row of willow trees.

Central Market
The Central Market consists of an open-air market, located in the Vodnikov trg and Pogačarnev trg squares, a covered market situated in between the two squares, and a series of small food shops along the river Ljubljanica, which are referred to as 'Plečnik's Covered Market' as they are located in a colonnade designed by Ljubljana's famous architect Jože Plečnik. The Central Market offer is supplemented by catering establishments and street food kiosks.

Slovene Ethnographic Museum
The shop contents were restored by the museum and in 2004 they were included in the new museum building as both the museum shop and as cultural heritage. In 2021, while preparing to mark Plečnik’s year in 2022, Lectarija became a museum display and was incorporated into the permanent exhibition as ‘Plečnik’s Lectarija’. It is the only completely preserved shop interior designed by Jože Plečnik.

Themed cycle routes around Ljubljana
From Fužine Castle it follows the riverbank through the Štepanjsko Naselje and Kodeljevo districts into the city centre (Petkovšek Embankment, Prešeren Square, Congress Square, Novi Trg) and ends on the river at Špica. The Plečnik cycle route (14 km) links Plečnik’s legacy in the Trnovo district, at Žale and in Tivoli Park. The Forest cycle route (7 km) follows the route Tivoli–Zoo–Koseze–Spodnja [Lower] Šiška and skirts Rožnik to connect Tivoli to Mostec.

Brot Pekarna
