Hotel Cubo
The name Cubo is otherwise well-known to gourmets, as it originally stands for one of the most favoured fine dining restaurants in Ljubljana. The building had started deteriorating in the second half of the 19th century, and although individual parts of it had been repaired, most of Ljubljana’s largest building (in terms of volume) had essentially been left to decay. The reconstruction of Cukrarna, begun in 2018, took place in the context of the Cukrarna Gallery Development Project, which was jointly funded by the City of Ljubljana, the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Slovenia.

Volunteers of the IMEX Challenge Slovenia 2012 project built a beehive for children with special needs
Local partners who last year managed to convince the organizers of IMEX Challenge to support this innovative and inspiring project, are CUDV Centre Draga, Beekeepers Association of Slovenia, Slovenian Convention Bureau, agencies GO.MICE and Compass, Grand Hotel Union, Jezeršek Culinary House and Ljubljana Tourism / Convention Bureau. The project, which was endorsed by the President and Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, the Mayor of Ljubljana and the British Ambassador to Slovenia, is a best practice example of successful integration among various walks of life and of corporate social responsibility with a common goal to improve on a small but meaningful part of our everyday life.
