Velika planina

Velika planina is also accessible on foot, via a number of popular mountain routes. it is a popular hiking destination in the summer, but it is also stunningly beautiful in winter, when it is covered in snow. Herdsmen's Village Each year in the middle of June, the local herdsmen bring the cattle to Velika planina, move into cute little herdsmen's huts covered with shingles, and stay there throughout the warm months to take care of the grazing cattle.

A circular ride with the Urban train

The Urban electric train will take you on an attractive circular tourist trail, which connects the main city attractions from the Town Hall to the Ljubljana Castle, the Špica embankment with the starting point for the Botanical Garden, the Trnovski pristan embankment, Plečnik House in Krakovo, the Roman wall, Križanke summer theatre, Slovenska cesta street, Kongresni trg square, Parliament and Prešernova cesta street. The passengers are able to get off at the Opera House to visit the Museum of Modern Art and the National Gallery or take a ride along the Cankarjeva cesta road to the Slovenska cesta road and the Ajdovščina stop and then continue via Dalmatinova ulica street and Miklošičeva cesta road across the Prešernov trg square to the final stop at the Town Hall.
