A wide range of collections The Technical Museum of Slovenia was opened with its first collection in 1953, but now the exhibition space spreads over 6,000 square meters, offering more than 10 different collections – to name a few: printing, agriculture, textiles, fishing, water driving machinery, wood working… While my husband was impressed by the road vehicles collection, which also includes 15 cars used by the President of Yugoslavia, Marshall Tito, I was fascinated by its wildlife collection.

Quirky Museums Around Ljubljana
Other sections include natural history specimens, early computers and televisions, hunting and fishing exhibits, woodwork, textiles, electricity, printing, metalworking industrial equipment, and even an exhibit on forestry. It’s a very full days’ worth of exhibits, and I can recommend the excellent restaurant adjacent to it.

Due to our small size, we are quite strict when it comes to this terminology, but for a Ljubljana restaurant, fish from the Adriatic is more local or regional than is even physically possible for a restaurant in larger cities and countries. What we mainly look at is that the ingredient is brought to us by a trustworthy person, so that we know where it comes from and who vouches for it, even if it may sometimes come from beyond our borders, perhaps from Austria, Croatia...
