Druga godba, a festival of ethnic and world music and, to a lesser extent, contemporary jazz, is one of the best European festivals of slightly different music, which is difficult to place in any established categories.

After last year's very successful jubilee year, Druga Godba is entering its fifth decade. Even in its mature years, the festival remains as watchful as ever, always on the lookout for the most talented and creative musicians from all over the world. It’s not scared to cross social, geographical or cultural-political borders, and to show that artists do not, as a rule, inhabit a comfort zone, but use different creative approaches and types of live performance to celebrate and honour their homelands, ancestors and role models, and strive for a more open and accessible future.
This year, Druga Godba will be coming at you with twelve concerts at five venues over three days. What can you expect? For a start, twelve very different performances. Some of them will get you up and dancing, while others will have a quiet(er) depth that makes you stop and think. A choice selection of dynamic, refined, handcrafted sounds from four continents and eighteen countries – a snapshot perhaps of the best the musical practices of our times have to offer, backed (as always) by a wide-ranging and varied set of supporting events.
