A bold technoburlesque performance that has, for over a decade, been stripping away social masks on the stage of Klub Gromka. It combines entertainment and critique, feminism and sensuality, body and pop culture into a complex club experience.
Mask Thieves is a project by the artistic platform Emanat, exploring the contemporary body as a political, aesthetic, and intimate space. Dance, travesty, electronics, cabaret, and (self)irony merge into a performance that transcends genres and identities.
The show is never static — each episode modulates, responding to time, place, and audience, and is created in the moment. Through physical expression, performers peel away social roles and images layer by layer to reveal their emptiness — and in that emptiness, they find space for freedom, humor, and pleasure.
Instead of clear-cut messages, Mask Thieves offers a sensory and witty experience that doesn’t take itself too seriously — yet seriously reflects on the world it arises from.
