Plečnik's Ljubljana is considered to be one of the 20th century's most important total works of art.

In designing Ljubljana, the nation's capital, Plečnik tried to use modern approaches while modeling the city on ancient Athens. His style, innovative even by today's standards, is characterized by the use of classical architectural elements, such as pillars, lintels, balustrades, and colonnettes, redesigned and combined in the master architect's own special way.

Ljubljana's landmarks designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik (1872-1957) have been included in UNESCO's World Heritage List. As UNESCO website explains, the key emphasis is on its excellence. The great architect deeply understood and respected the needs and wishes of the townspeople in his creation and his “human-scale urbanistic approach”.

EXPO visitors will have an opportunity to test a VR "edutainment" experience. In the virtual space, the visitors will be able to freely access digitized models of Plečnik's realized and unrealized heritage and extended multimedia content with the help of augmented reality.

In the coming year of Jože Plečnik, you can get to know the visionary master through various guided tours:
