What is the most unique thing about Ljubljana? One of the things that come to mind is the combination of relaxed and lively atmosphere. Mostly free events take place on the streets and markets almost throughout the year.

Traditional events start in February with the Dragon Carnival (Zmajev karneval). In about a month, the popular Open Kitchen (Odprta kuhna) opens in the Central Market, which lasts until the end of October. Soon after, the season of outdoor fairs begins. One of the trademarks of Ljubljana is also the Library under the Treetops  (Knjižnica pod krošnjami) “the only 100% natural library in the world”.

Entertaining events during the day and high culture in the evenings, free of charge in the heart of the city. This is a short description of June in Ljubljana at the Kongresni trg square, which is an introduction to the lively summer. It is followed by a large number of events, including the Ana Desetnica Street Theatre Festival, jazz concerts and dance evenings, film screenings at the Ljubljana Castle and the Kongresni trg square, the Nights in the Old Ljubljana Town  (Noči v Stari Ljubljani), and Medieval Days (Srednjeveški dnevi).

The Ljubljana Wine Route brings winemakers from all over Slovenia to the streets of “the city of vine and wine”. Advent events in Ljubljana are marked by the Festive Fair and the December in Ljubljana event programme that lasts the entire month.
