Where to in May?
May is the month that slowly closes the door to spring and invites summer to join the party. It would be a sin not to spend it actively, so don't miss the 10 highlights of the month.

Festival of Tulips and Garden Equipment (April 8 to May 7)
From April 8 to May 7, a floral fairytale will unfold a rich tapestry of tulips. In addition to the multi-coloured tulips, which are the biggest attraction of the Arboretum Volčji Potok, between April 24 and May 7, there will be an arts and crafts and garden equipment fair, offering a variety of useful and decorative products made of ceramics, wood, textiles, wool, felt, leather and other materials.

Rembrandt. Prints by the greatest old master (26 April to 30 July)
Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669) is one of the greatest artists of all time, and the etchings for which he was best known during his lifetime were influential for centuries after his death.
The National Gallery of Slovenia, in collaboration with the Rembrandt House Museum, will present around 35 of the artist's prints and more than a dozen works by his contemporaries and later artists who were influenced by Rembrandt.

Recreational march around Ljubljana and threesomes run (4 to 6 May)
The recreational Path around Ljubljana, where the march is taking place, is a unique cultural monument. It runs along the course of the barb wire fence which surrounded Ljubljana during World War II. The fence was built in 1942 in order to prevent contacts between the city and its hinterland.

Green fair of natural products and activities (13 May)
Visitors at the fair will be able to buy natural, vegetarian, vegan and sustainable products for the entire family, nutrition books, healing and spiritual growth books, and meet providers of alternative services and holistic skills.

Meta Krese: Have you come to stay? (18 May to 20 August)
The exhibition of Meta Krese will be hitherto the most comprehensive presentation of her photographic series and cycles. The photographer is among the most prominent Slovenian photojournalists, who has established herself in this predominantly male profession.

Castle days (20 to 21 May)
The annual Castle Days festival offers a programme of events for the entire family. It rounds off with an open-doors day, when visitors to Ljubljana Castle can view the exhibition Slovenian History, see the Virtual Castle projection, and visit the Outlook Tower free of charge.

Druga godba festival (22 to 30 May)
Druga godba, a festival of ethnic and world music and, to a lesser extent, contemporary jazz, is one of the best European festivals of slightly different music, which is difficult to place in any established categories.

Lighting guerilla festival (22 May to 17 June)
The annual Lighting Guerrilla festival presents a programme of light installations set up in Ljubljana's streets and parks and a number of galleries.

Ljubljana Art Weekend (25 to 28 May)
Welcome to the second edition of Ljubljana Art Weekend, a three-day event that connects the most important venues of contemporary art in the city. Like its numerous European models, the Ljubljana Art Weekend initiative aims to bring together organisations and institutions, galleries, museums and project spaces dedicated to the presentation and promotion of contemporary art, thus contributing to the consolidation of the local art scene and promotion of its plurality and vitality.

Pivo & Burger Fest (27 to 28 May)
Come to the city's beer and burger festival, which will bring together the diverse offerings from Slovenian brewers and burger chefs.
