Mariborsko Pohorje, which comprises an area along the main crest of the Pohorje Massif and the area of Areh, is the largest of several ski resorts in the Pohorje Mountains and the one located nearest to the city of Maribor, practically on the city's outskirts. One only needs to hop on a city bus to reach the lower platform of its aerial cable car.
Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy 43 kilometres of ski pistes of different degrees of difficulty accessible by 20 ski lifts. The resort has one of the longest floodlit night skiing pistes in Europe. Each year, it hosts women's Alpine Skiing World Cup slalom and giant slalom races for the Golden Fox Trophy.
The resort's winter offerings include 24 ski runs, a ski school, a ski equipment hire service, hotels, holiday apartments, a wellness centre, restaurants, a winter activity field for children, and a night skiing piste.
