Fužine Castle: Museum of Architecture and Design

The Museum of Architecture and Design (Muzej za arhitekturo in oblikovanje – MAO) is one of the oldest museums of this kind in Europe. The central national museum organising exhibitions and events in the field of architecture, urban planning, industrial and graphic design as well as photography is located in the Fužine Castle – the only still preserved Renaissance castle in Ljubljana.

MAO is also the organiser of the of the world's longest-running design biennial – BIO.

Opening hours

Open: Tuesday to Sunday 10:00-18:00.

The museum is closed to visitors when exhibitions are being set up and on selected public holidays (1 January, 1 November, 25 December).

Admission prices

  • €3.50 for adults
  • €2.00 for schoolchildren, students and senior citizens
  • €6.00 for families (up to two adults with children)
  • free for pre-schoolers, the disabled, the unemployed, journalists presenting a valid press card, and members of professional associations presenting their credentials

Every first Sunday of the month admission is free for all visitors.
