Flower baskets in Ljubljana’s Old Town

Ljubljana’s Old Town boasts a special kind of floral decoration. Specially made metal baskets have been installed on the city’s decorative public lighting fixtures.

Since 2015, Ljubljana Tourism has installed 221 flower baskets in the attractive architectural settings of Ljubljana’s streets and squares, where they brighten up the city all year round. The purpose of the project is to invest in tourism infrastructure and create a friendlier environment for residents and visitors alike.

The flower baskets you see in all the main squares and the majority of streets in Ljubljana’s historic town centre have become a distinctive feature in many photographs of Ljubljana.
