The development of the educational system through centuries, illustrated by the museum’s permanent collection, is placed within the context of a broader cultural history. The Slovenian School Museum boasts a library holding more than 55,000 titles, including a large number of rare pedagogical books written in the 18th and 19th centuries and several incunabula, early printed books published before 1500, such as Rudimenta grammatices.

Klobasarna

The sausage, made to a special recipe dating back to the early 19th century, was named 'Carniolan' after the Austro-Hungarian province of Carniola, which comprised a large part of the present Slovenia. In the first half of the 16th century it was frescoed by several Croatian painters. In the same century, it was fortified to provide a place of refuge and defence for farmers from nearby villages during Turkish attacks.
