The Tour of Slovenia is not just an international sporting event – it is the largest cycling race in Slovenia and a key driving force behind the development of Slovenian cycling. It was first held in May 1993, featuring eight stages in its inaugural edition. Today, the Tour of Slovenia is one of the most recognisable sports and tourism events in the country, bringing some of the world’s top cyclists to Slovenian roads.

Participating cities will receive support and advice, advantages in drawing European funds, participation in innovation activities and pilot and demonstration projects, networking opportunities, exchanges of good practices and high visibility. In addition to Ljubljana, the Slovenian municipalities of Kranj and Velenje were also successful. We congratulate both of them and the other selected cities. We are pleased that 3 of the 8 Slovenian cities that applied were selected, which proves that our country is aware of the importance of climate neutrality.
