    The staircase hall on the first and second floors is decorated with stained glass windows depicting geometric motifs.     The new main bronze door was created in 1996 by sculptor Tone Demšar to mark 1250 years of Christianity in our country and in honour of the Pope’s visit to Ljubljana, while sculptor Mirsad Begić carved the history of the Ljubljana Diocese on the side door. Town Hall The first building erected on this site in 1484 was rebuilt in 1718 to the plans of local master builder Gregor Maček. It has preserved a number of memorials to Ljubljana’s past, including the Hercules and Narcissus fountains.

    The theatre is outfitted with a large sliding roof that allows performances to run undisturbed even in the case of bad weather.  A distinctive feature of the Entrance Hall (open-air) is the sgrafitto decoration on the walls, which were adorned with bas-relief figurines that originate from the Czech medieval art.

    We will hear them performed by Duettissimo, a duet consisting of one of Lithuania’s most prominent violinists, Dalia Dėdinskaitė, the winner of many national and international competitions (including the prestigious international competition Violine in Dresden) and an assistant at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and the Lithuanian cellist Gleb Pyšniak, a pupil of the legendary Natalia Gutman, who regularly performs in prestigious concert halls such as the Musikverein in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire. In addition to the above works they will perform a “musical prayer” by Pēteris Vasks, one of Latvia’s leading contemporary composers, and a work of which they are the dedicatees: Dialogues for Violin and Cello  by the legendary Lithuanian composer Anatolijus Šenderovas.
