Waterside Cycling Route
The river served as the city’s principal commercial artery and supply route from Roman times until the arrival of the railway in the mid-nineteenth century. The architect Jože Plečnik left a decisive mark on the city with his arrangement of the river embankments in the old town centre, designing tree-lined promenades and creating or renovating a series of bridges over the river and its tributaries.

The trail around Radensko polje starts and ends at the Boštanj Castle. Only the remains of the walls remind us of the once magnificent edifice. And as an interesting aside, Rihard Blagaj was born in the castle, after whom the first protected flower in Slovenia, the Daphne Blagayana, was named.

Early Christian Centre
A later centre of Christian life in Emona developed along the city’s western wall, parts of which are still preserved on Erjavčeva Street, next to Cankarjev dom. Like most Emonan houses, the original building was privately owned, but it was later transformed into an early Christian complex.

Slovene Museum of Christianity and Stična Monastery
The Slovene Museum of Christianity shows a permanent collection on the history of the Stična Monastery and the most important chapters in the history of Roman Catholic religion in Slovenian inhabited areas, as well as a number of works of sacral art. Visitors to the museum can view the parts of the monastery open to the public, including the monastery's basilica, famous for its Baroque altar and frescoes.

Weaving from A to Z
You’ll probably catch your first sight of Mojca Tomšič at the loom from outdoors, behind the glass walls of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum (SEM) weaving studio. This is where she and her childhood friend Barbara Lapuh have been working for almost twenty years, creating unique blankets, rugs, tablecloths, wraps, shawls, and other, smaller useful items.
