Costumes can also be love letters. Cveta Mirnik (1951–2021) breathed emotion, identity, and story into characters through her sketches and stage creations.

This exhibition, presented in collaboration with SLOGI and partners from Žalec, offers a visual ode to the love of theatre, of people, and of creativity. Her passion for theatre and dedication to her craft are also revealed in costume sketches that never made it to the stage.

During periods when she was not working for theatre productions, she chose plays and created costume designs for them. For her costume work, she received two Borštnik Awards at Slovenia’s premier theatre festival in Maribor. As a practical costume designer, she “exhibited” her work on stage, while her sketches were shown in several solo exhibitions and major survey exhibitions of theatre scenography and costume design both in Slovenia and abroad.

The exhibition is part of an inter-institutional project in collaboration with the Slovenian Theatre Institute (SLOGI), the Žalec Institute for Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Žalec Intermunicipal Public Library.
