Razstava Mejajezik+sola na Krakovskem nasipu 1920px

  • 2 Oct - 5 Nov 2025

    Krakovski nasip embankment, 1000 Ljubljana

Exhibition sheds light on the impact of political change, shifting borders and language policy on Slovenian education in the first half of the 20th century – a time of profound social upheaval and cultural tension.

The exhibition highlights the importance of the Slovenian language and other linguistic communities in the education systems of present-day Slovenia and its neighbouring regions between 1900 and 1945. It explores the social and ideological pressures brought on by frequent changes in state structures, as well as the efforts of teachers and intellectuals to preserve and develop the Slovenian language in schools.

Across twenty-two exhibition panels, visitors will discover selected excerpts from textbooks, manuals and archival documents, complemented by photographs and postcards from the period.
