Through art, research and intergenerational collaboration, this exhibition encourages a new perspective on ageing. It aims to raise awareness about age-related prejudice and promote respectful dialogue and solidarity between generations.

In today’s rapidly ageing society, ageism remains one of the most widespread yet overlooked forms of discrimination. Stereotypes about both older and younger people reinforce bias, shape public opinion and limit opportunities for a more inclusive community.

The project Faces of Age – Generations in Dialogue, led by the Dr Anton Trstenjak Humanist Foundation (HUD), addresses this challenge. By combining artistic expression, academic insight and intergenerational engagement, the project seeks to reframe how we think about ageing.

A central role in the project is played by students from the 2nd and 3rd year of the Graphic and Interactive Communication and Graphic and Media Technology programmes at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, University of Ljubljana. As part of their coursework in Information Design and Media Design, and under the mentorship of Assoc. Prof. Primož Fijavž, Asst. Prof. Dr Anamarija Kejžar (UL FSD), and Prof. Dr Raša Urbas, they created a series of posters tackling common age-related stereotypes.

Through research and visual communication, the students critically examined age-based prejudice and transformed it into starting points for intergenerational reflection and dialogue. The result is a compelling and accessible poster exhibition that opens up questions around ageing, coexistence and solidarity.

The exhibition accompanies the international scientific conference Inclusive Long-Lived Society: Opportunities for the Future, merging artistic expression with academic discussion and a roundtable event. These activities aim to foster intergenerational collaboration, knowledge exchange and the development of policies that support active and healthy ageing.

The project seeks to reduce age-related bias, promote mutual respect and solidarity between generations, and open space for fresh ideas on building an inclusive, long-lived society.
