An exhibition marking the 35th anniversary of the first democratic multi-party elections and the plebiscite on an independent and sovereign Slovenia, held at Republic Square (Trg republike).

The exhibition We Wrote History, prepared by the National Assembly in cooperation with the Museum of Contemporary History of Slovenia and Tourism Ljubljana, marks the 35th anniversary of the first democratic multi-party elections and the plebiscite on an independent and sovereign Slovenia. It presents the process of Slovenia’s democratisation through a rich selection of archival photographs and documents.

The exhibition takes us back 35 years, to a time when the predecessor of today’s National Assembly — the Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia — paved the way towards the realisation of the Slovenian nation’s centuries-old dream of an independent and sovereign state by adopting the necessary legislation and constitutional amendments.
