    Do your remember the film Ghost and how sparks flew between the actors in the famous pottery scene? You can now re-enact it in your own way – as a couple or in the company of your friends.

    Love-themed guided tour

    Join a group walk around Ljubljana to explore its most romantic spots and get to know the city through the love stories of its residents. Discover the best photo spots and other special locations featured by LUV Fest, and learn all about the custom of “tossing lights in the water” on St Gregory’s Day.

    Children’s film: Bird adventures (4 February– 12 March)

    Birds chirping loudly, a stork taking its first flight, a woodpecker chasing a beetle, and a little bird annoyed by a fox. This 27-minute set of visually and thematically varied bird adventures for the little ones, celebrating St Gregory’s Day and the arrival of spring, can be seen at Kinodvor.

    Guided tour of the exhibition: Ljubljana. History. City

    Love is not one thing. Love has many forms. Nourish your love for new discoveries in a guided tour that takes you through thousands of years of Ljubljana’s history and people, with tales of those who surrendered to their love for nature, committed themselves to romantic or family love, nurtured a love of science and art, and fought in the name of love for freedom. The tour takes place at the City Museum of Ljubljana.

    Prešeren day

    As is traditional on Slovenia’s cultural holiday, many museums and galleries will open their doors to offer free admission to exhibitions and a wide range of events – this year with a fresh breeze from LUV Fest sweeping through Slovenian houses of culture.

    BROADCAST OF A RECITAL OF PREŠEREN’S POETRY AND SELECTED SLOVENIAN MUSIC

    You are kindly invited to take a walk through the old city center of Ljubljana (from Gornji to Mestni trg) on Wednesday, February 8th, between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., where a live broadcast of recitations of Prešeren’s poetry from the Prešeren Square and a selection of Slovenian music will reverberate. Selected program has been prepared in collaboration with the Slovenian Association of Dramatic Artists, Radio Slovenia’s 3rd program – ARS and City of Ljubljana to commemorate the Slovenian cultural holiday.

    Kinodvor will be showing three films as a tribute to the former erotic and still legendary movie house Kino Sloga and its special chapter in Slovenian film history, as well as to cinematic eroticism in all its diversity and languages.

    Valentine’s at the former Kino Sloga (14 February)

    On Valentine’s film night, Kinosloga. Retrosex. features three films that pay tribute to the former erotic and still legendary movie house Kino Sloga and its special chapter in Slovenian film history. From mild innuendo to graphic depictions of sex, and from the avant-garde to soft and hard eroticism.

    Performance: The river with seven names

    Let’s meet – by chance or design – at this 40-minute visually impressive free spectacle at Šuštarjevo Embankment near Vrazov Square, and listen to the story of the Ljubljanica and its mythical history.

    Valentine’s ball at Pionirski dom

    Take a twirl to the rhythms of the slow waltz, Viennese waltz, tango, foxtrot, discofox, samba, cha-cha, rhumba, jive, salsa, bachata and mambo. DJ Roman will provide the music, while Pionirski dom will offer the perfect atmosphere for romance and surprise.

    Winter Festival

    Ljubljana Festival’s 6th Winter Festival is back again to enrich the city, with learning opportunities for artists and entertainment for visitors. This year’s musical offerings will include the 1st Festival Ljubljana International Piano Competition.

    Children’s art workshops: Making St Gregory lanterns

    The Slovenian Ethnographic Museum (SEM) and the University of Ljubljana Botanic Garden are holding free workshops on 4 March at 11 AM and 10 March at 5 PM, respectively, where children from 5 years up, and younger children accompanied by parents, can make lanterns for St Gregory’s Day. You can also join in!

    Rudolf Cvetko and the Code of love

    Rudolf Cvetko was a captain in the Austro-Hungarian Army, and the first Slovenian to win an Olympic medal for fencing. Renny Rovšnik’s lecture about Cvetko’s coded correspondence with his sweetheart and wife-to-be Marija will reveal an entirely different side to this intriguing figure, showing him as both an emotional and loving man, and a dedicated officer and gentleman.     Greeting the spring – floating lights
