Ljubljana Tourism Receives Two Gold Awards for Excellence in Berlin
© Arhiv Turizma Ljubljana In the Culture and Art category, the gold was awarded to Plečnik's Ljubljana, a short video produced with the help of the Squareme agency to honor 2022, referred to as the Plečnik's year. The video shows the masterpieces of Ljubljana's greatest master architect in a way that attracts the viewers and invites them to visit Plečnik's Ljubljana, also inscribed on the UNESCO world cultural heritage list.

Church of St. Francis Assisi

The remarkable architect Jože Plečnik, father of modern Ljubljana and the author of its eternal beauty, was thus invited to design a new church. Plečnik placed a dominant edifice featuring a double tympanum above the entrance in what was then a suburban area, where the former long tilled fields were divided transversely in a checkerboard pattern.

Butchers' Bridge
The Butchers' Bridge, built in 2010, connects the Central Market's colonnade, designed by the architect Jože Plečnik, with the Petkovškovo nabrežje embankment. It stands on the site where Jože Plečnik envisaged a bridge almost a hundred years ago.

Peglezen building
A new town hall was never built, but the unusual designs for a new Peglezen building attracted attention of Matko Prelovšek, the director of Ljubljana's office of construction, and his wife Elza, who offered Plečnik to finance the construction. The present Peglezen, built between 1933 and 1934, consists of several differing floors stacked on top of each other in a step-like arrangement.
