Ljubljana event highlights in February 2018

February in Slovenia is marked by the Slovenian Cultural Holiday and high class culture will definitely be happening this month, with winter edition of Ljubljana Festival. Beside that, it will still be a very interesting month, full of great events. Check out our selection.

Slovenian Cultural Holiday, also know as the Prešeren Day (8 February) is dedicated to our nation's greatest poet. On this day most of museums, galleries and even theatres offer free admissions or free of charge events. So make sure to fit a day just for culture on your schedule.

UEFA Futsal EURO 2018

The European futsal championship is already in full swing. See the best European teams through to the end and stay tuned for the winners. Stožice Arena is the place to be these days.

Dragon Carnival

Two days after Slovenian Cultural Day, you will get your chance to dance with a dragon. Dragon Carnival parade, including, among others, a number of typical Slovenian carnival figures rooted in pagan tradition, such as 'kurent', 'laufar', 'morostar and others, will hit the city's streets and will be followed by a programme of entertainment held in Kongresni trg square. It's a family oriented event which your kids will love.

Bi flamenco festival

This interesting festival will bring some much needed flavours of the warmer Spanish climates into the wintery Ljubljana. The performances will include traditional as well as contemporary takes on flamenco, including those interwined with African and Arabic rhythms.

Winter Ljubljana Festival 2018

The winter edition of one of Europe's oldest festivals is a new thing, this year happening for the second time. It will feature performances by Nigel Kennedy, one of most prominent violinists of all time, by Slovenian gospel ensemble New Swing Quartet and by renowned tenor Ramón Vargas and soprano Elvira Hasanagić.

Kraftwerk (Germany): 3-D

How often do you get a chance to go to a Kraftwerk concert? The legendary German innovators and pioneers of electronic music will be visiting Ljubljana and you shouldn't miss that. Their spectacular 3-D show will cover their entire musical opus.
